tagbot Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 23, 2025
Your privacy is super important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information tagbot collects, why we collect it, how it's used, and your rights regarding your information.
1. Information We Collect
tagbot collects the following types of information:
- Discord User IDs: When you interact with the Bot, your Discord User ID is collected to identify you for role assignment and to track cooldowns.
- Discord Guild IDs: We collect the IDs of Discord servers (guilds) where the Bot is active. This is so we can store server-specific configurations like your target identity guild and reward role ID.
- primary_guild.identity_guild_id: This piece of information is requested from the Discord API for users who interact with the bot. We use it to verify a user's primary associated Discord guild for role assignment. This ID is stored temporarily for cooldown purposes and is not publicly exposed or shared with third parties.
- Role IDs: The ID of the Discord role that server administrators configure us to manage.
- Cooldown Timestamps: For each user the Bot checks, we store a timestamp to manage API request cooldowns, which helps prevent us from making too many API calls.
- Global Bot Settings: This includes any custom status text for the bot and lists of globally blacklisted user and server IDs.
2. How We Use Your Information
The information tagbot collects is used only for these purposes:
- To provide the core functionality of the Bot, which is to verify user identity and assign/remove roles.
- To manage per-user and per-server API request cooldowns.
- To store server-specific configurations that the Bot needs to operate.
- To manage global blacklists for users and servers to prevent bot abuse.
- For internal operational logging and debugging to make sure the Bot is stable and performing well.
We absolutely do not:
- Collect any personally identifiable information beyond what's necessary for the Bot's functionality (i.e., Discord IDs).
- Share, sell, or rent your information to any third parties.
- Use your information for advertising or marketing.
3. Data Storage & Security
All collected data (server configurations, known users, global settings) is stored locally. This file is managed by the bot's host and isn't directly accessible by external parties over the internet. While we implement reasonable security measures to protect the data, please understand that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
4. How Long We Keep Your Data
Server configurations and associated user cooldown data are kept until a server administrator explicitly resets or clears them using the Bot's commands.
Blacklisted IDs are kept indefinitely unless an authorized bot administrator removes them.
Temporary data, fetched from Discord, is used for verification and then only kept for cooldown tracking.
5. Your Rights
Under certain data protection laws, you might have rights regarding your personal data. Since tagbot primarily handles Discord IDs, your main rights would typically be exercised directly through Discord (e.g., managing your Discord account). However, for data stored by tagbot:
- Access: You can ask a bot administrator to view the configuration data for their server.
- Correction/Deletion: You can request a bot administrator to clear your data (reset cooldowns) or update server configurations using the Bot's commands. For global data (like blacklists), please contact the bot developer.
6. Third-Party Services
tagbot interacts with the Discord API to do its job. Your use of Discord is subject to Discord's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We might update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll let you know about any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically for any changes.
8. Get In Touch
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or tagbot's data practices, please contact the bot developer through official channels (e.g., our Discord support server, or a direct message to the developer).
